By linking learning with the environment, countryside, agriculture and forestry parents and schools can address scientific, geographic and geological themes. The need for a sustainable planet involves the understanding of where food comes from how things grow and what the consequences of environmental damage are.

Year of Farming and Food

An exciting campaign to help children find out more about the countryside and where their food comes from through memorable, first-hand learning experiences!

Throughout the Year, farmers, food producers and lots of other organisations will be offering up a bumper crop of ideas and events, information and teaching materials for participating schools. As the Year goes on, more and more food and farming resources, news and offers will be appearing on this website.

Government sites for children and young people

  • Youth Green Paper - Youth Matters
    On 18 July 2005 the Government published the Youth Green Paper. It addresses key issues relating to how we support and challenge our teenagers. Government is seeking to consult young people, parents and professionals on the proposals to enable young people to have more choice and influence over services and facilities that are available to them. Education resources

FACE

The educational work of the National Farmers' Union and the Royal Agricultural Society of England merged in September 2001 to form FACE.

FACE was granted charitable status in 2005, ensuring we remain totally independent. (More...)

Educational Access

The Countryside Stewardship Scheme aims to protect and improve the countryside. Educational Access is part of this scheme and provides opportunities for schools, and colleges, clubs, youth groups, adult study centres and others to visit farms for the purpose of study or for general interest.
